kaozgamer12 Posted April 18, 2006 Posted April 18, 2006 Hey guys how are you doing? well even though this is my first post i have been using xpize for a while, well I have a problem, well i do not know if u know about autopatcher, but i used to use it to install windows updates and well it had an extra option that i checked, which was add "open with notepad" for all unknown file types, and this was after i installed xpize (back when both autopatcher and xpize showed up on neowin software page). ever since i did that i have had these ugly looking icons on my desktop, and if i check always open with option, then i also get these icons, is there any way to fix this, thanks.
Scubar Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 (edited) unfortauntely that is MS way of making ur system look ugly. you could go into folder options > file types and then associate new icons for the action. Also you may be interested to know this for the future12. Very often we see meaningless subjects in topic title. They give no clue of what the posts are all about. For example: - Oh no! - Help - I'm mad - Please help - Question - I need your help - Hmmmm .... This should be avoided. Users should enter something more specific in topic title so that it is easier for others to help.A few good examples: - Strange problem with DirectX9b redist- RunOnceEx install problem (double installation)- Change Internet Explorer's Icon back to default Edited April 19, 2006 by ScubaSteve
kaozgamer12 Posted April 19, 2006 Author Posted April 19, 2006 Thanks, but there are tons of file types for me to go do that and i dont know what to replace them with. and sorry about the thread topic. I'll keep that in mind next time, and if an admin sees that and would like to change the title, then make it "open with notepad" icon problem, or something, again sorry
Scubar Posted April 19, 2006 Posted April 19, 2006 the other only way is if u delete the file extension from the view > file types, then it will be unknown and will go back to using the default windows unknown file format icon.it is generally not a good idea to associate all unknown file types with notepad
