I use the above registry tweak in my unattended CD and it works great for me with my 'Microsoft Wireless Natural Mutltimedia Keyboard'. I inadvertantly included this in an Unattended CD I made for my sister who has the 'Microsoft Comfort Curve Keyboard 2000' which does not have a 'F Lock' key, I think the above Registry entry ends up disabling the Funtion Keys on her keyboard, which is why they don't work.

Th what needis a way to 'reverse' this entry in the registry so that the function keys will work again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

There used to be a time when people actually helped out on this forum. Now it seems that only a closed group of people interact in each other's posts and that's it. I cna't believe that no one here has any ideas to solve this.

Thanks for responding. Actually I was leaving that as a last alternate since I am not sure how deleting the entire key might effect the functioning of the computer. Don't want to end up with more problems than there are now.

You can always backup your registry (before any change).

Indeed if you delete it, it might work.

Have you tried to install microsoft's driver of the keyboard?

I think it is inteltype or something like that.

I hope its not too late to fix your problem. To fix the keyboard just delete the Scancode Map key under Keyboard Layout.

Thanks for the help guys the problem is now resolved. The Microsoft software keyboard was already installed but using that to reset to defaults was also of no help. Finally I just deleted the 'Scancode Map' key under '[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]' as recommended by 'mc134', this resolved the issue. Ofcourse the keys only became usable after a reboot.
