Biohead Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Is it possible to rotate the orientation of the screen when using XP?I know on Windows 2000 all you had to do was press ctrl-alt-(direction) and it will do it- that provides hours of amusment at school Also, I run a widescreen laptop, so res is 1280x800. Will it reverse it to 800x1280 or will it just go into a complete mess?
nitroshift Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 What video card have you got?It will change the resolution too.
snafumaster Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 My video card and it's software support rotation by default. However there are third party programs for this as well. The one we use at work is very good. We use it so we can mount 61" plasma screens vertically. Nice interface. It's called pivot. Biohead Posted April 16, 2006 Author Posted April 16, 2006 (edited) Intel 915GM - in my sig Edited April 16, 2006 by Biohead
snafumaster Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Look at your control panel. You should see an Intel Graphics icon. Open it and select display. On mine it give you the options to display in any 90 degree orientation. Not sure yours will be the same as mine is the 82852 chipset. But yours is a better chipset so it should have some options like mine.
cluberti Posted April 16, 2006 Posted April 16, 2006 Since this isn't a Windows function, but a video driver function, your video driver must support (and implement) the function.
Biohead Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 Pivot Pro works a charm - but are there any freeware apps that can do this?
eyeball Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 try right clicking on your desktop and going to properties and then select settings and then advanced, in there somewhere there is usually the option to do this unless your video card doesnt support it
nmX.Memnoch Posted April 17, 2006 Posted April 17, 2006 The 915GM video card should support it...especially since the lower model integrated Intel video controllers support it.@Biohead: Make sure you have the latest video drivers.
Biohead Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 Good point - I downloaded the drivers from Toshiba and not Intel - I've done this already for the wifi drivers, but completely missed the Vid card. I'll let you know...
Biohead Posted April 17, 2006 Author Posted April 17, 2006 (edited) Our Survey says... No.Still pretty much the same options as there was before - but in a new gui.Do you think it would be possible to install the lower models drivers, then use device manage to update to the 915?
