DL380 Win2K3 +SP1 wont detect UPS

Problem:

DL380 Win2K3 +SP1 wont detect a HP5500XR UPS

This UPS is connected via a serial cable to the server, only one com port COM1.

When installing HP Power Manager 4, it says it cannot find any UPS device attached.

Nothing else is using COM1, correct drivers for the COM ports are installed.

Ran a debug code at the CMD prompt and it reported COM1 was responding normally.

Have posted to HP forums and found other ppl with similar issues, no fix as yet.

Fix offered of disabling ILO serial interface has been tried and it still doent work.

If anyone has anything to offer would be appriciated.

Looks more a software problem.

Try to set "UPS service" to auto, normaly it´s set to manual. Let us know if it helps .

Thanks for the idea, but we dont use that service. We use HP Power manager on all of our servers and it doesnt require that service setup.

I checked on 2 other boxes, and we definatly dont enable it or configure it.
