windows xp pro is exactly the same whether its corp or retail, same features, same everything. except in corp you never ever need to activate it, whereas the retail version needs activation on install and sometimes on major hardware changes. thats it. nothing else. corp is just more convenient for most of us.

I think I get it now.

So in essence, then, it's the CD key that determines whether it's Pro or Corporate. If you input one key and you are required to activate, then it's XP Pro. If there's no activation requirement, then it's the Corporate Edition. I see.....

Does XP Home behave the same way? (One requiring activation and one doesn't?)

Yes, you're right about corp not needing to be activated and pro does.

However, the CD key for pro does not work in corp, and vise-versa
