bjorland Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 I am running Windows ME & Windows 2000, dual boot. Under the display properties in Windows ME my Geforce 440MX shows its running 4x AGP bus, but in Windows 2000 it is saying I am running 2x AGP bus. HOw can that be?I am running Detonator v43.45, latest VIA hyper drivers on both OS. Another interesting thing is that before I took of Windows XP, and replaced it with Windows 2000, I scored 300 points more with 3DMark2001 in XP than in WinME.
Crispy Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 With the APG speed, I could be that the Windows 2000 you have simply doesn't have AGP x4 drivers installed. Are u running a first edition without any servicepacks?? Ok, its a wild guess, I know, but if you haven't installed any servicepacks its good idea to do it. May not solve it, but solves tons of other stuff! And with the 300 lost points, its simple. XP is more optimized than ME. I believe that you would get higher benchmarks in XP no matter which benchmarkprorgam you would use.
bjorland Posted June 30, 2003 Author Posted June 30, 2003 Yes, I am running W2k without any Service Packs, as I have been waiting to get SP4 downloaded, don't want to install SP3 and then SP4. Will see if it fixes it after I have SP4 on.
Drewdatrip Posted June 30, 2003 Posted June 30, 2003 Check out our guide on Slipstreaming SP4 into win2k Cd so you dont upgrade your currecnt version, but rather start fresh with SP4 . Its the best thing since sliced Pie!|Drew|
bjorland Posted July 3, 2003 Author Posted July 3, 2003 Cool, Thanks!!! Do you perhaps have a quick link to there?
