hougtimo Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Hi,I al making a custom recovery cd for my laptop. So far I have:Custom : Ntoskrnl.exe, Winlogon.exe, Logonui.exe, Explorer.exe, msgina.dll, shell32.dllMy own default theme, ccleaner, adobe reader, AdAware Personal, Everest Home integrated. SP2 and all hotfixes slipstreamed. Windows installer 3.1, WMP10, DX 9.0c slipstreamed. and it is quite hevily nlited. Now, I have an Iconpackager theme which I currently apply to XP using tuneup utilities. I want to include these as the defauly icons for my xp though. The only way i thought of being able to do this was extracting all the icons (which I have done) and changing them in Shell32 / explorer / mydocs and related dlls. It seems a bit of a hassle though. is there any easier way to do this?thanksHougTimo
Nepali Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 why don't u extract ur icon packager registry and import silently during setup of ur UAXP.
Scubar Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Personally i would extract them all and then resource hack shell32.dll. what i do is keep a few scripts to replace all the icons, bmps, avis from within the main ones like explorer ,msgina, shell32. then all i have todo is put all the icons that have been extracted into a folder replace them with my own. run the script and bam it will replace them all within the shell32.dll. it certainly does make things alot easier if u like to change things in those files on a regular basis.

I like that idea. Could you share those scripts you have? I'd like to try them out if you don't mind. Thanks
Scubar Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Sure, i have only done the ones for explorer.exe, msgina.dll and shell32.dll. hopefuly u can make sense of what im trying to explain in the HOWTO file. you should also read the reshacker.hlp file and read up on scripts. theyre very simple to write and make things alot easier in future.Download RapidshareAlternative download linkDownload Megaupload
