Aaron Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Open up Regedit and navigate to the following keys:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\CA\Certificates\FEE449EE0E3965A5246F000E87FDE2A065FD89D4][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\ROOT\Certificates\2BD63D28D7BCD0E251195AEB519243C13142EBC3]And delete the pair of them, then reboot.Export (backup) both keys before deleting them though, just in case

Unwonted Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 I got the same thing! After every reboot. I even hex edited windows file protection files, and it will not go away. It's not fun having to do that on every reboot.
XPerties Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 I don't know if this is the same thing but in TweakUI under general there is a check box. Uncheck to remove windows version on desktop. You can get TweakUI by doing a search on google.com for XP power tools.
Wg2k3 Posted June 23, 2003 Author Posted June 23, 2003 i need a way to disable the win protected file on startup ;\
Unwonted Posted June 23, 2003 Posted June 23, 2003 Check here. You will need to download a hex editor to get it working. I like XVI32!
