I don't know why. If I use Chinese rtf help file that is ok.

This is not a simple problem, I am seeking help from professional VC forum now.

There shouldn't be any problems with any characters because Unicode is used. What is the exact problem?

addition:

I made a help RTF file declared in settings section.

When I appoint helptext.x=** then above unrecognizable appear.

However if I don't use a help RTF file, Chinese charactor still can't be read in helptext.

Please try my new version, it should work there.

Btw. rtf files may not be saved as unicode file! It must be saved as ANSI file with unicode characters encoded in ascii text like \u123456\'3f. But modern RTF capable editors should do this automatically.
