stay Posted March 2, 2006 Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) i need an alternative for installrite (http://www.epsilonsquared.com/). it seems to make a good job, but using wine at linux it's not running like it should, so i'm looking for alternatives - freeware prefered but commercial ons are also ok (in hope that they offer a working trial version). eidenk Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 (edited) I use either InstallWatch, but that's the same engine as InstallRite or Regshot + Syslog or Fingerprint.InstallWatch uses some of the MS DAO 350 database runtime. Without them it won't fully work.I don't know how you install it on Linux. If you just copy your InstallRite Folder from Windows to Linux, You won't have the DAO files and hence it won't fully work. You can try to simply copy the following files into Install Rite Folder (They are not all needed but I don't know now which ones are compulsory) :dao2535.tlbDao350.dllMsjet35.dllMsjint35.dllMsjter35.dllVbar332.dllVbajet32.dllMsrd2x35.dllIf Wine supports COM, you've got a chance it will work. stay Posted March 3, 2006 Author Posted March 3, 2006 installrite creates a sfx archive, however it seems that wine has problems with the amount of data unpacked by the sfx archive. will have a look at installwatch in some time, thanks for your reply
