stan8450 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I am running Outlook 2003 on windows XP. I am attempting to send email via a smtp server but keep receiving a 0x80040201 error. I can receive email but not send. It comes back marked 'undeliverable'. I did some research and discovered the .pst files get corrupted quite easily. - I sent test emails as plain text and html. Neither worked.- I have tried to rename the .pst file etc but nothing seems to work. All the settings of this profile are correct as I ran the test and it worked fine. Any help would be appreciated.
Anne Troy Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Stan:Check with your ISP. Not all ISPs will allow you to use a DIFFERENT SMTP server from their own, especially without logging into theirs first. This is likely NOT an Outlook "problem" issue, but your account setup. So, if you have, for instance, comcast.net, try using THAT as the outgoing on the account and see if it works. If it does, then try setting up your other SMTP, but use the More Settings button, Outgoing Server tab to log onto your comcast...Clear as mud?
CptMurphy Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 If you think it's the pst files then go here: fix If you think it's ur acct settings, then you should visit the ISPs web site. Most have configuration explinations.
