Taking forever to DELETE Files, need a solution

hi am using windows xp sp3 and my problem is that wen am deleting almost any file type or size, it takes forver to DELETE........ does anyone knows a fix, patch? Yes i know use SP2 but if its possible to continue to use SP3 can anyone help?

What kind of file system and hard drive? How many files are you trying to delete at a time? Defragmented?

am having no probs with the performance of my PC, only deleting.... file sizes between kb to mbs

Specs 768mb Gen Kingston mem,

Gygabyte Mboard,

Athlon 2200+ 1.8Ghz,

40Gig Hdd

Hi,

Assuming that the extra "sp3" hotfixes you added aren't causing your problem, have you installed the latest chipset drivers for your motherboard?

Do you have UDMA enabled for your IDE controller in Windows and in the BIOS?

Do you have Bus mastering enabled for your IDE controllers in the BIOS?

Just a few obvious points to check first.
