xavmdq Posted February 7, 2006 Posted February 7, 2006 Hi,I'm following de Unnatended guide and can place hotfixes in two ways: SVCPACK directory with SVCPACK.INF or using /INTEGRATE switch (to slipstream?). Is this correct?Looking the post "HOTFIXES: Win2000 SP4 – WinXP SP1 – WinXP SP2" says that hotfixes go AFTER installing MSN 7 and WMP10. Then I can't slipstream hotfixes. I know I can use SVCPACK method but the idea is to save space on disk and speed up installation. All these hotfixes requieres MSN7 and WMP10? Now I'll look each critical update and I'll try to separate hotfixes to slipstream and hotfixes to SVCPACK.

Now I'll look each critical update and I'll try to separate hotfixes to slipstream and hotfixes to SVCPACK.Then you definatly want to use the "RyanVM Integrator" and updatepack.Instead of just adding the hotfix to svcpack it actually extracts the system files into I386 and overwrites the original files. Then it does any file editing needed to make a true slipstream of the hotfixes. This way makes it so the filesize of your I386 folder is not much larger than the original.RyanVM.netBooggy has also made a windowsupdate only UpdatePack as well:Booggy's WU Update PackAlso for other 3rd pary utilities that you can slipstream to your disk check out:Addon Pack DownloadsThere are also switchless installer addons as well:Switchless Installer Addons
xavmdq Posted February 7, 2006 Author Posted February 7, 2006 Thanks, but that method is for English only. I go to easy way. I have 66MB of critical updates+WMP10+MSN7. I'll delete Migration folders (always made clean installs). Now I'm downloading SATA+RAID drivers for Via, Sis and nVidia (the most common in my country).I added Total Commander (copied to $oem$), make a script (called from cmdlines.txt) to add registry setting of Total Commander (I didn't use REG file because of unit problem, for example if I install windows to D drive). In cleanup.cmd I have the deletion commands and move links commands (I organize Internet aplication below Internet in Start Menu, etc.).The only thing I can't found is how to make appear the repair option. I hope I can burn this CD today.
Siginet Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 What language do you need. There are some packs that are for other languages. Or you may want to look into HFSlip.
RyanVM Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 I think someone was going to work on a Spanish translation of the Update Pack once upon a time, but nothing's come out of it.I agree with Siginet. HFSlip is probably the best bet for you.
xavmdq Posted February 9, 2006 Author Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks guys, but I made disk with SVCPACK method. I tried to view the contents of hotfixes but I can't read each file (encrypted?) and for that reason I can't make a table with dependencies and file versions. I think some (or all) hotfixes can be applied (sliptreamed with /INTEGRATE switch) without having to install MSN7 and WMP10. When I have time I'll apply each hotfix and view the modifications taken. Thanks again and sorry for my english.
RyanVM Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 They aren't encrypted. You can read the manifest file in there to see what corresponds to what. Or you can run the exe with the /extract switch to get ahold of the contents.

The files of this hotfixes are system critical (except first hotfix).
