Stupidest Problem EVER

Recommended Posts

For some unknown reason if I try to open a folder in Explorer without having the Folder View and using that, I get a 'Could not be found' error

I can't think what could possibly be wrong with it... any ideas?

Heres the error

---------------------------

C:\Windows

---------------------------

Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

---------------------------

OK

---------------------------

Thats after I just clicked on the folder...

OMG! REINSTALL REINSTALL! QUICK BEFORE IT SPREADS! :)

Seriously though, I have no idea. That has to be the oddest thing I've ever seen from any Windows machine. Close second is transferring data from one hard drive to another and it said it would take 439827 days (Yes, that really did happen LOL). I'll see if I can find out some info on it for ya

Edit: Hmmm...I just did a search on google, including the groups...and the only references I can find are errors that refer specifically to exe files. For instance,

"Windows cannot find 'C:\Windows\system32\sol.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

None related to the actual folder. Although, so far...it's been related to a worm virus. I suggest you run an antivirus if you have one to check, if you don't have one you can always use AVG for free.

If you're on a network (like me) you can transfer all your files to another computer, reinstall Windows, and then transfer your files back...It took me about 5 minutes for about 2-3GBs of stuff...
