networkmonkey Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 hi, im in need of help to create a file sharing network between 3 computers; 2 of which are connected through an ethernet cable (and have no problem), and another which is connected by a wireless router.the one connected through the wireless router is having no problem connecting to the internet, but i cannot see the other 2 computers to share files. i am new at creating networks and would like some help.. i wasnt too sure where to place this topic at, so i hope this was the right spot.thanks in advance.
Woomera Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 ok actualy this is not the right place, should have posted this on networking section.by the way with this info i dont think anyone can help you.what are the 3 computers ip and subnetmask?can they ping each other?and i think you have to configure your router to bypass netbios.
breadandbubbles Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 you have tried just going to control panel and, under networks or whatever, clicked "create a workgroup"? it gives you the option to create a network setup disk after you set up the network on any one PC.or, the easiest way. create the workgroup on each PC. just make sure each has the same workgroup name. youll get to a part where you have to name the workgroup. its defaul "MSHOME" i think. anyway, mine "LEMONPIE". i tried making it distinguishable so id know it when i saw it.if you just do that with all of your PCS, they should autodetect each other. its like...tuning walkie-talkies to the same frequency. just name the frequency!
