qafyg Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 In my neverending quest to have the perfect Windows Unattended installation, I would like to update the Windows Update Agent to the latest version.I'm using Windows XP SP2, I have all the latest patch install, and I'm also installing the Windows Genuine Advantage agent.Still, when I go to the www.windowsupdate.com page, It's asking me to install an ActiveX control to verify the version of windows update and once that is installed it's asking me to install a new version of the Windows update program. So where can I find and how can I install in my unattended installation :1. The ActiveX control that verify the version of the Windows Update Applicatoin2. The latest version of the Windows Update Application
Sonic Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 (edited) You have to download * Windows Update v6 about 4,3mb and it's international.* Windows Genuine Advantage to check your version, it's a dll named LegitControlCheck.dll & GWFSPIDGen.dllFor dlls put both in system32 and run regsvr32 /s LegitControlCheck.dll to active ActiveX. If I remember there is an offical EXE or CAB ...edit: okay there are already present ... check @ http://sonic9.free.fr/files/Updates/ ...WGA.exe is already silent install by MicrosoftWUv6.exe can be run with these switchs : WUv6.exe /wuforce /quiet /norestart Edited January 25, 2006 by sonic
