prathapml
One of the best Proxy Servers to be used, is the SQUID Proxy. It has an excellent caching engine. If you install it on your own PC & connect to the net via squid, net access speed is much faster than otherwise (atleast, i have felt that). The installation is pretty simple (detailed below for 32-bit NT OS, may not work on 64-bit).Procedure:-1) Extract squid-2.5-stable.zip in c:\squid2) Rename the files "mime.conf.default" & "squid.conf.default" to "mime.conf" & "squid.conf", in the folder c:\squid\etc3) Go to command prompt & change 2 the folder c:\squid\sbin4) run "squid -z" to create cache directories5) run "squid -i" to install squid as a service6) Now run the SquidNT service from the Services applet7) U can now use squid with <IP> & Port: 3128SQUID Homepage: http://www.squid-cache.orgYou can download the latest win32 binaries from: http://www.acmeconsulting.it/pagine/openso...nload/squid.htmOfficial link to get latest (as of now) stable build install, from mirror: http://www.acmeconsulting.it/pagine/openso...LE12-NT-bin.zip (896 KB)
