x0rcist
Hi,We are busy setting up a new RIS server in 2003AD and everything is (almost) working fine. (some tweaking to be done)Because we work with asset tags on the computer we want to give the machine name the name of the asset tag.An option is to rename this after the first login.. this is what we don't want!Is there an option\tutorial so we can use this as a variable from choice.osc (or other file) when going into pboot? Thanks in advance
oioldman
you could get it to display the option at the start by modifying the Client Installation Options.1. logon ris server2. open users & computers3. right click on domain name4. select properties | group policy5. select default domain policy (or appropriate if more than 1)6. select edit7. open User Config | Windows Settings | Remote Installation Services8. double click icon in right pane and select as required from choices (don't remember exact needed)hope it helps
cluberti
You could add a variable to the OSCHOOSER which requires user input, and use that variable for creating the machine name.
jfmartel
Go in your GPO configuration for your server, then go in the user part in the GPO, then find the RIS in the "windows settings".Enable the "custom" option and disable the "automatic" option. Now you can use the variable %machinename%.
x0rcist
Thanks for the reply's!Stupid that i didn't saw that.. opened the custom.osc and found the variable heheI have edited the login.osc with an extra user input named "MACHINENAME".Will test this tomorrow because we did some ip changes (new domain, new range) and had to wait on England to give the DNS a push.
