axsys Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 so i could never figure out why my jump drive and only my jump drive wouldn't autoplay in my computer untill i took a closer look at the files on it. i had the tweak ui setup on there, and, as i downloaded it right from M$, it was called TweakUIPowertoySetup.exe. If i had any file on my jump drive named exactly TweakUIPowertoySetup.exe, then my jump drive would not autoplay (just the default autoplay- the box that pops up asking if you want to open the folder, view the pictures, etc...). i tested this on multiple computers to verify my discovery.so basically if you have a file called TweakUIPowertoySetup.exe on a jump drive, and possibly any removable media, it disables autoplay for that drive. has anyone noticed this problem before? does anyone know why this happens? just thought i'd share my discoveries with everyone.note: i use windows xp sp1 and thats what i tested this on, and i think, but im not sure, one of the other computers i tested it with had xp sp2, in case anyone wonderedTitle Edited - Please follow new posting rules from now on.--Zxian
LLXX Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Interesting. My only thoughts on this is that maybe it's to prevent someone from automatically installing TweakUI? Do a search through all the files in the system directories for any that contain the text "TweakUIPowertoySetup" and you should be able to see exactly in which file this "bug" occurs.
Angelico_Payne Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 This has absolutely nothing to do with tweakpowertoy setupTested on zillion machines
