Rob Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Hey Guys...Here comes my first request for a bit of help Right, well the situation is this. I got jealous of your desktops, themes etc and so somebody posted me a link to themexp.org.I like it!I have chosen and downloaded the theme I want:http://www.themexp.org/view_info.php?id=1542I have tried following the 'readme' file... but it wasnt really much good for a n00b @ themes Just wondered if there was anybody around who could download it and give me slightly clearer step-by-step instructions on how to set it up.Would be very grateful if anybody has got the time to spare Cheers.
XPerties Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 first thing to do is download this......http://www.MSFN.org/modules.php?modid=2&ac...tion=show&id=89run the app, reboot. Then download the theme you posted and extract it to the folder C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themesthen you will see a themeNAME.msstyles ( theme name being what ever the name of the theme is)Double click on that and a window will pop open and click apply. There yah go
Rob Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I'll try it right this second And post report on what happens in a couple of mins! Thanks
Rob Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 No luck. Nothing ever works for me. It just couldnt even find the file when I go to set it as theme.Oh well.
Jay_Stealth Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 double click on the theme file that you have downloaded once it is in the themes dir then display properties should appear click apply and your done and the theme is added to the selection.
Rob Posted June 5, 2003 Author Posted June 5, 2003 I get as far as clicking the theme thats download, but then when the box appears it doesnt display the preview of the new theme or anything Just the current one is displayed.
Aaron Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Have you patched your UXTheme.dll file with the multipatcher yet, and rebooted?
XPerties Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 I'm sure this is the same one MSFN has but just in case, I just used it 2 days ago, works fine for XP with SP1 install. Simple click the .exe file, then click reboot on the app when it is done. Then after you reboot double click on the msstyle you downloaded.http://www.xperties.net/personal/files/uxt...eme_for_sp1.rar
Aaron Posted June 5, 2003 Posted June 5, 2003 Also, some themes are a bit dodgy and won't appear in the Appearances window, try out a couple more different themes first.
