XPerties Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 I know there is a way to fix this. My trouble, when clicking a link IE opens real small. I thought if you open it then close it it would reopen full size, but I have tried this a million times. I have streched the window and closed it and nothing. I formatted yesterday and reinstall ( needed to anyways) and it is still doing it.How do I change the "clicking link" to open a full IE window. Driving me nuts.ThanksOh and when a small spyware gets installed on your toolbar and it's not listed in your apps where would be the default directory for anything for IE that would be installed?
nekkid Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 You should be running Ad-Aware and or Spybot Search & Destory for spyware. You should never try to remove it by yourself as you may damage crucial parts of that particular software/or the OS. As for the new windows opening small, I've had that happen several times. You just have to keep resizing them (Do not maximize them from this point) and close out completely. You may have to do this several times before it works. It was the only thing *I* found that worked.
Aaron Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Maximize your IE window, or resize it to your choice. Hold down the CTRL key and click on X
Cal2002 Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 or drag the window to the size u want it to be. maximize it from their then restore it. now exit out of IE. that will fix it.

XPerties Posted June 4, 2003 Author Posted June 4, 2003 it's only in the new version. Read there forums, it's p***ing people off.....Anyways back to my IE troubles............
MSNwar Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 Close "Windows Explorer".Then, maximize IE window and exit (file/exit instead of clicking fastX). Reboot. The key is to have no instances of Windows Explorer open when you do the above.Works for me everytime. Also, web sites with pop-ups that write java cookies to the temp can cause this. I use ScrubXP, http://www.bartdart.com, when it gets real bad.http://www.MSFN.org/board/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=6168
XPerties Posted June 4, 2003 Author Posted June 4, 2003 MSNwar.....No go.This is what works and what doesn't. When clicking IE from taskbar it opens up full, when right clicking on a link "Open in new window or clicking a link that opens a new IE open it is small. I have done everything everyone has posted. No go...Who is next?
XPerties Posted June 4, 2003 Author Posted June 4, 2003 stretched the window and choose file/close.Al-tho I did that a million times and it didn't work. But now it does, until about 5 min ago, it's back to the small size again. This is less than 24 hour install of XP....annoying!!!!!!!!
MSNwar Posted June 4, 2003 Posted June 4, 2003 It does that to me to when I have two sessions of Windows Explorer open (tiled horizontaly) and a program like XPsmoker that uses a HTML interface with a small footprint. Like you, when I open a new Internet Explorer window the size of the window is small. In my case the size is exactly the size of one of the two programs I mentioned. Windows must be storing the information and reusing it. Where I do not know exactly. But ScrubXP fixes it for me everytime. One thing about ScrubXP is it does not delete everything until the PC is rebooted.
