Windows 98 SE Normal star up

I have 98SE on my Dell XPS600r. Whenever I start up, it gives me the option to start in Normal, safe etc. I tried setting up Normal as a default thru. MSCONFIG. No luck. Can any one walk me thru, what I need to do other than reinstalling Windows. Thanks.

Try editing C:\CONFIG.SYS and add a default entry with a time out:

[Menu]

MenuItem=DOS

MenuItem=NetBSD

MenuItem=Linux

MenuDefault=Linux,5

In the above example, the "Linux" option will be chosen in 5 seconds.

Look for "BootMenu=1" in MSDOS.SYS and change it to "BootMenu=0"
