ArmondSooksians Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Hi, and Happy new year to all!Anyone know that How to make a Norton PartitionMagic 8.0 Bootable CD from the 2 PartitionMagic bootable floppy diskettes? I don't have the CD version of the partitionmagic.Thank you very much.
spacesurfer Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Use WinImage to convert the first floppy image (.IMA format) from 1.44 mb to 2.88 mb. Then inject all files from floppy 2 to the new image 2.88 mb image.. You'll have to modify the autoexec.bat file to get rid of lines searching for floppy 2.Then use Nero or other burning software to make bootable CD and use the 2.88 mb floppy image as the source. You can add other files as necessary.
jftuga Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 What would you do if you need to make a boot CD that contains more than 2.88 MB? Say around 10-15 MB. How would you do that?-John
spacesurfer Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 You can add as much data to you boot CD as you want to fill it up. What Nero does is it "emulates" a floppy. So, the 2.88 mb image is assigned the A drive and seen as a floppy drive. The rest of the data is on your CD. Therefore, you have to have the CD-ROM drivers to see the other data on your CD as a regular drive.
jftuga Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 By "CD-ROM" drivers, do you mean the mscdex program?-John
spacesurfer Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 By "CD-ROM" drivers, do you mean the mscdex program?-JohnYes, the mscdex.exe and other *.sys files for config.sys file.Without these on the floppy image, you won't be able to access the extra files on your CD-R.
