BoardBabe Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 If I delete the %UserProfile%\Favourites\Links dir it just comes back. Any idea how to prevent it from appearing on the IE favourites drop-down?

BoardBabe Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 Thank you!Would I then not have to delete this dir in my cleanup?rd /s /q "%UserProfile%\Favoritter\Koblinger"If I delete the %UserProfile%\Favourites\Links dir it just comes back. Any idea how to prevent it from appearing on the IE favourites drop-down?ad : [FavoritesEx] to your winnt.sif , and the standard favorites should be goneActually it seems this might remove the actual shortcuts within IE>>Favourites>>Links, and not the Links "folder" itself? My problem is that I want this folder gone and removed from IE>>FavouritesPS. The path on my Norwegian system is %UserProfile%\Favoritter\Koblinger (%UserProfile%\Favourites\Links on english system)
Takeshi Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 You probably need to do this too:HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ToolbarLinksFolderNameDelete the Links (or whatever name) under Data, leaving it blank
tguy Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Using a custom installation of IE developed with the Internet Explorer Administration Kit will also allow you to remove the links from the installation. It is easy to use and is freely available on the MS website.Check it out!

Then put that in your $OEM$ folder. And in your WINNT.SIF, add the following:[Branding]BrandIEUsingUnattended = NoIEBrandingFile = INSTALL.INSFind the IEAK page here:http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechn...6/ieak6sp1.mspx
BoardBabe Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 @Joe User 99: Thank you, but it seems this method actually just adds some reg values, so it will be just as good to apply manual reg "tweaks" I guess?
