deleting an invalid win32 application

Here is what happened. Yesterday I installed Nero 7.0.1.4 and it changed all my files default viewer to Nero Showtime Player. I didn't like it so I uninstalled it. But then, when I uninstalled it, the default viewers for pictures, avi, etc were gone and I didn't know how to get it back, so I paniced and did a system restore to before I installed Nero 7.

Everything was fine until I tried to delete the install exe from my Downloads folder.

When I tried to delete it, it says:

Cannot delete Nero-7.0.1.4_eng: It is being used by another person or program.

Close any programs that might be using the file and try again.

And when I tried to run it, it says:

C:/Downloads/Nero-7.0.1.4_eng.exe is not a valid Win32 Application.

Help please :(

What about booting into safemode or command prompt and deleting it from there?

It also looks like you might've been infected with a virus contained in that file. Do a virus scan.

I don't have a virus scanner installed. Also, I tried booting in safemode and deleting it but no luck. Also how do I delete it from command prompt?

I tried scanning it with online scanners but it said "The file you uploaded is 0 bytes"

Hahahaa, thanks I deleted it in Command Prompt! Never thought of this..

In two years of working these online forums....

I don't have a virus scanner installed.

...is about the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

You're doing the whole internet a darn'd serious Disservice by not protecting your own PC against viruses.

Your computer is a literal "Thphoid Mary". Your computer could be, right now, spreading viruses all over the internet. launching DOS attacks and acting as a "Zombe" terminal.

With one of the finest Anti Virus programs in the world just a download away why are you still unprotected?

Please do us all a great big favor and get yourself protected.

AVG 7.1 FREE is available FREE Here.

When properly set up, AVG will automaticly get its own updates and do a full virus scan for you on a Daily basis.

If you need any help with it,,,,I'll be glad to oblige.

Happy New Year,
