katana109794 Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 I'm not sure if this topic belongs in software or hardware.Having said that here is my problem. I've just moved a 160 gb drive to an older machine of mine. But when the macine boots and tries to load XP it starts to work and then simply stops. I have also tried to boot in safe mode but the list of drivers starts to load and then it stops as well. I'm running a Pentium 2 at 1 ghz and 256 mb of memory. I seem to meet all the requirements for xp but nothing seems to work. Thanks in advance for the advice.
jaclaz Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 You see, XP is VERY "hardware dependent", moving an already installed system to a different PC is NOT straightforward.Read this:http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/moving_xp.htmlYou "could" try booting from a Windows XP CD and select a "Repair install".jaclaz
