Question about $OEM$ limitations

Recommended Posts

I read somwhere (I can't remember where) that if using the $OEM$ folder for driver installations could cause a file corruption if you then tried to install a textmode driver via F6, is this true? Or is it only true if your trying to install the same driver twice.

basicly I want to know if I use the mass storage driverpack will I still be able to install additional drivers from floppy if it's not covered in the pack?

Thanks.

It's been my experience that if you have oempreinstall=yes in your

winnt.sif file that F6 will not work. You'll still get the prompt

to press F6 to install drivers. But you'll get errors saying it

can't read the disk or something like that.

like @jbm said , if you have

if you have set oempreinstall=yes in winnt.sif

F6 wil not work .

WITH or WITHOUT bts .

so you neeed a third option : VANILLA XP for using F6 .

the magic is to do not need F6 .

Yeah, your right, that's what I ment. I only use OEMPreinstall for BTS DP's anyway so my other option wont have it.

Thanks for your post though.
