Hi all,

I never used ghost with RIS before. I have a 13 GB ghost Image that I need to push to 300 PC within the network. I have created a ghost image , setup a 2003 RIS server, but when I run RISETUP, I browse to the ghost image in the network, I get error message. Am I missing something. This is a project that would make me look like a hero if I get it to work.

Thank you for the help.

Hi,

We sort of do that here, though I'm not involved with the Ghost aspect at all.

I do know that RIS itself does not actually distribute the image to the PCs. RIS is used here to launch Ghost (via the Tools menu), which then allows Ghost to distribute the image to the box.

RIS does not handle multicasting either as far as I'm aware (which is why we have a use for Ghost).

RISETUP only used to create flat RIS images. It is of no use if you use Ghost.

Cheers,

Andy

p.s. This would have been better placed in the Unattended RIS Installation sub-forum...

thank you all,

I was able to create a RISghost PXE boot disk, it booted the client to choose from the images I have created.

but I am not sure if I have to copy the ghost image to this folder :

RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\GhostbootXPimage

As for Ghost, I am using a trial version of Enterprize solution suite. the CIO wouldn't authorize buy it :realmad:
