RJARRRPCGP Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 With Windows 98 SE, (probably other versions of Windows 9x too)if the swap file is set to bigger than 768 MB, Windows then refuses to continue with the error message saying that there's insufficient memory to run Windows and to disable some stuff in config.sys and autoexec.bat.But, the swap file isn't physical memory! So why does that matter? This is NOT RAM I'm talking about, it's just the swap file size! Has anyone else seen this?

TooMuchFreeTime Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 I have run Windows 98 SE for years with fixed 1GB swapfile and never had any problems...
Elektrik Posted December 4, 2005 Posted December 4, 2005 RJARRRPCGPDo you have Win98 installed on FAT or FAT32 ?

LLXX Posted December 5, 2005 Posted December 5, 2005 My swapfile is set to 1024/1024 and I've had no problems with it.
