Need an advice with unattend inst. hotfix

Featured Replies

I deploy my apps with RunOnceEx.inf during the unattended installation, it works just fine I don't install any windows update stuff in the RunOnceEx.inf (I use WSUS) but now I would like to put .Net Framework 2 and MDAC in the unattended installation. I made one test but I get a problem with WFP ( Windows File Protection ).

Then I thought that maybe svcpack.inf is better option to deploy .Net FW and MDAC, and other Qfe..

So I would like to get an advice what is the best way for me, or just an opinion what you like use...

You can't deploy .NET2 with svcpack.inf. Also, if this is XP SP2 it already has the latest MDAC version (2.8 SP1).

Hotfixes can be integrated directly into your UA CD using the /integrate:<path to your CD files on HD>. This would bypass the need for WSUS to kick in on the machine. Personally, I would only use WSUS to keep them updated once they're installed, not to do the initial update. You'll save yourself quite a bit of time if you integrate all of the current hotfixes (that you have approved in WSUS of course) directly into your UA CD.
