The Grasshopper Posted November 29, 2005 Posted November 29, 2005 I did something stupid and would like to fix the problem. weellll, can't fix the stupid part but,I have MCE05 and was trying windows messenger 4.7 in the media center side.i thought it was unsafe and should delete it and update to version 5, but i forgot to delete 4.7 before i installed 5. so i went and tried to delete 5 and everything about messenger. I deleted the messenger folder in Programs>Messenger. everything was deleted except the "messenger.exe" file. that was version 5.0. It wouldn't let me delete that.lso now..i reinstalled 5 because i keep getting the same error. and tried to uninstall it with its ininstaller but there isn't an option to uninstall/rollback becuase i must have removed the necessary files when i deleted the program folder. now i get errors everytime i open msn messenger or windows messenger.can anyone tell me how to fix this...or get me the system files i need to repair? i can't find them on my winxp mce discs...or don't know where to look to install from..tried to do a restore..but it said restore cound't be done! I can''t get that error to stop everytime I turn on MSN Messenger. i get that report error screen and i look at the problem file name and it says its msmsgs.exe version 4.07, the thing is. it's not turned ON. my msn messenger 7.5 is! i use msn premium and everytime i log in...BAM...there's that error...its just driving me crazy..can anyone help please Thankshere's the error reporting:

I restarted again and no error Thanks! This worked! Edited December 2, 2005 by The Grasshopper
