Hi. We have a small network where we have two computers connected o each other. They are found in a laboratory and the other one in an office. Both computers are linked to another computer found in a remote. My boss usually gets all the information by passing through that remote computer and connecting to the computer found in the office by a dial up method. Recently they just install ADSL in the office. The problem is that he can no longer get access to the computer found in the office due to ADSL. And when he uses the ancient method that is connecting through modem there is no problem. The pc in the office has windows xp professional sp2. He also configured the firewall but in vain. Anyone can explain why the mere presence of ADSL is causing the problem.

THANKS.

how is he trying to connect? remote desktop, pcanywhere, etc.

For remote desktop, you need to open port 3389 on your router to the system he will be connecting to.

Hi. thanks for ur replies. well he uses a remote desktop connection to get access to the pc found in the office. well i dont think there is a router

Most likely it is a router on the ADSL that is causing the problem.

One way to find out is to see if the office PC is behind NAT.

Otherwise call the ISP to find out what kind of setup your boss bought :)
