Writely now supports OpenDocument format

Web 2.0 is catching up fast on the INTERNET. And some of the popular uses of this technology have been emails and web based word processors. While we do have fantastic email applications like goowy.com and laszlomail.com, Writely does the work for online web based word processing. This document is currently being composed in Writely and we at TechWhack seem to like it a lot. Interestingly, the service enables the user to upload their word document files for online editing and viewing.

The latest news in is that they have now started supporting OpenDocument format as well. The company has further plans to enable support for another two popular document formats, PDF and RTF. Users would now be able to upload their OpenDocument files to Writely and the service would make these files editable on the net itself. Very innovating indeed.

Of course, they let the users to save the online files as OpenDocument and Word files. The company representatives said that they decided to support OpenDocument because of customer requests. The company claims that they already have several tens of thousands of users registered on their web-enabled service. Looks like the future of the computing just might be based on the internet itself. Instead of an operating system, a web browser would become more relevant software to have to access your documents, work on your files, and communicate with your pals!
