drak2002 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 Hi. I have recently upgraded windows 98 to Win XP Home edition on my AMD 700 w/320 mb ram. I had XP installed on this machine once before and worked fine. But now after the installation the computer will reach the XP loading screen and then will go to a black screen and not budge. I am able to run Safe mode. I noticed in Safe mode though that absolutely no devices are listed and I wonder if this could be the cause of my problems. This has already been my second attempt at installing XP on this machine with the same result. Any help much appreciated. Thanks
Mikep7779 Posted November 22, 2005 Posted November 22, 2005 I would try windows 2000, less of a resouce hogg...Anyway in safemode go toStart > run > msconfig > startup and make sure that nothing odd is starting up that isnt compatable with windows xp.
