derektm Posted November 12, 2005 Posted November 12, 2005 Any1 knows why Windows automaticly leaves 8mb of unpartitioned space during install? Its left for converting to a dynamic disc.See here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=225822
Hamins Posted November 13, 2005 Posted November 13, 2005 I think (and I may be wrong) this happens because of the different ways HDD manufacturers, and Windows count disk space. HDD manufacturers count 1GB as 1000MB, whereas Windows counts 1GB as 1024MB.
BigDaddy Posted November 13, 2005 Author Posted November 13, 2005 I do believe DEREKT is correct.HAMINSWindows counts disk space correctly. Cos 1GB is 1024MB and 1MB is 1024KB and so on.But the HDD manufactureres are cheating so 1GB is 1000MB and so ppl think the HDD is bigger. It's the same with CRT MONITORS. A 17" monitor has only about 15.7" viewable surface. So a 17" CRT monitor and 15"LCD monitor are almost the same in viewable surface.
Yahoo Posted November 21, 2005 Posted November 21, 2005 if we create partition using dm we will get all space after that we can install 2000
