slow startup + logoff

Posted (edited)

i nlited xp again and installed it on 2 partitions of my comp. on my main partition the speed is fine but on the backup partition there is a problem. i have disabled a bunch of services so that could be the problem but i dont know which one is the right one. well the problem is that when i start the comp and boot to my backup part, i get 2 bars at the windows boot screen, then it takes forever for the login box to pop up, like 50secs. also if i logoff, it takes about 30secs to get to that login box.

also, shutdown only takes a few secs. and if i boot into safe mode, it still takes a long time, so i dont think that its a driver problem.

problem fixed

i disabled the service "event log" and apparently you cant do that.

the only services i have running are:

event log

rpc

windows audio

there are only 10 processes running and i have a 45mb page file and im using about 80mb of ram

what this partition is mainly for is gaming, the games run so great when there is absoutly nothing else running. when im on my normal parition the games like to lag or crash because of all of the crap i have running.

I dont have partitions or anything. Never experienced any lags in games or anything. But good to know that with just 3 services running, we can still have XP running well enough for games.
