sarav80 Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Hi, My PC configuration is, P4 2.4 GHz, 256mb RAM, 80gb HDD... I have installed Windows Xp PRO with SP2, whenever i open some application or on opening other appl. when one is running it restars suddenly. I have unchecked Automaticaly restart on system failure option under startup and recovery settings in my computer properties. But still the problem exists. Can any one give solution how to solve this automatic restart problem.
eyeball Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 check in the error logs (right my computer -> manage) and look in there.... have u virus scanned it? or do u have a virus scanner? some virus often cause pcs to constantly restart.
Daemonforce Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Computer Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Automatic RestartTURN IT OFF! *waits on sarav to go hal again*
Daemonforce Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Could be a faulty memory module maybe? To be honest, with my experience I say it could be any number of things. Anything from a faulty ram/files to something sent over the network. We won't know until the bluescreen.
cluberti Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 The callstack will give the driver or module name that caused the failure, and from that we can find the root of the problem. Heck, if one feels comfortable sending .dmp files after they're compressed, I'd be more than happy to give a root cause .
