wpi 3.4.5 how to change catogories

Hi newbie here downloaded latest version and was trying to create a cat of 'protection' although I can add the group under other I get an error general.js not found or script unfinished and the cat dissapears any ideas how to permantly alter cats TIA

It has always worked by selecting none in the cat option of the config wizard a box will pop-up and you define the cat there.
