set firefox to default reg key

So how do you set firefox as default by using a reg key? I searched here and found some but everytime it sticks firefox on the start menu it's icon is gone. I guess its removing the link or some sort.

Also how do you pin programs on start menu unattended?

any help would be great

uh thanks for the firefox link

But the other one still stands. I swear I searched lol. It's all talking about how to delete or add in the Start-->Program folder. Not on the start menu itself where you can pin items.

It it a reg key or a folder where I can shove links into like quicklaunch. I haven't looked at reg keys yet, but shall do.

not sure if you're looking for the MRU (most recent used) programs list or the pinned items, i mean, the top or the bottom of the list?

for quicklaunch look on the folder "%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch"

but im looking for the pinned items which would be on the top of the list on the start menu.
