Are there any good programs (benchmarks) that i could run and see if there is any diffrence if i connect second HDD ?Thanx Tine Edited October 29, 2005 by m16si
rotjong
If they have the same ATA type then it should be fine although access to that slower slave drive will obviously be a little slower but for a free drive it's nothing bad. It used to be that different ATA drives shouldn't be on the same IDE cable. I don't know if this is still true.As for checking out the impact of the new hard drive on performance you can use a program like HD_Speed. From the website:Measures both sustained and burst data transfer rates of your hard disks, cd/dvd-roms and floppy. ripken204
depends on what you use the slower drive for, if its just for backups/data then it wont matter. if you install programs to it then it may have a little slow down but not much. also but ur page file to that drive.
