Vippis Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Hi,I'm looking for a Backup tool that supports RAID controllers independent from OS. For example if your OS doesn't boot and you have to restore your system partition in DOS mode.I have tried well-known tools like Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image. I was able to make an image of my system partition, but I could not recover it from DOS mode, because my RAID controller was not supported.I'm using a NVIDIA NVRAID controller. My array consists of 2x160GB Samsung SC1614C SATA HDDs in RAID0.Does anybody know a good solution ?Thanks a lot.
jftuga Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 Before giving up on this, try using BartPE. Create your boot CD from a Windows 2003 CD (possibly slipstreaming SP1??). If your adapter is supported by Win 2003 out of the box, then you will be able to see your array and perform a restore. I have actually done this with Ghost 8 on a Dell PowerEdge with a PERC 4 RAID adapter.Good luck,-John
