October 11, 200520 yr Hey!I've just installed my nlighted windows. For some reason I can't use the windows update function.I mean I can select the downloads but after downloading it says: "the following updates could not be installed" and lists all selected updates.The automatic aupdates, the protected storage, and the background transfer service are running. Also it seems like I can install the patches, once I have the file. Just winupdate can't...Does anybody have an idea why?
October 11, 200520 yr Err did you use the ryanvm sp2 update? You could have problems because of that....

October 12, 200520 yr See I think therein lies your problem. You used the hotfix pack right? Ryanvm has one that i am familiar with and I didnt know there was another one floating around. While the use of the pack is pretty cool, it does have some problems with the ovreambitious deleting of certain files required for future updates. You my friend need to make a new install cd. But before you do that, tell me what kind of errors you are getting. IS the system running for a long time trying to update the patches and then throws an error? I am almost a 100% sure that the hotfix packs are the culprit. I therefore dont use the hotfix packs anymore.I suffered the same problem as you are with my last nlite cd when I used hotfix packs as well. But this time when I reinstalled I did not bother with that. To me its not worth it. I just hit Windows Update and got updated in 5 minutes.
October 12, 200520 yr Author Arrgh!!!Well, not really. All seems normal. It downloads the Patches normally, but then instead of installing them, it gives me imediatly the info that they couldn't be installed..
October 12, 200520 yr Your second link shows you used a hotfix pack. I am not good at German at all haha but that is what I understood. Yes the patches will download normally. But then crash and burn when it comes to installing them. That is from personal experience...Sorry buddy but the best I can do is be a bit more patient and check out some other threads of users with similar problems under the nLite section.Anyone else care to offer their insights?
October 12, 200520 yr Author That's odd. When I shutdown my computer, the updates were installed...Regardless, I've made a new CD without the updates... No everything is working fine. Thank you very much for your help.
