thujone Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 hello, i haven't been able to find any info on this issue i have, so hopefully someone here knows.i installed service pack 2 recently. now when i open the Wireless Network Connection window, it _sometimes_ shows the local wireless network status as "Not connected" even when it is connected. I know it's connected, because i am able to use the internet, and the button at the bottom of the window says "Disconnect," which implies that i am actually connected.it's more annoying than anything else, because i can't tell if i'm connected or not by just looking at the system tray. what kind of bug is this? how can i fix it? or please tell me where i can go to learn more about this.thanks much, rich
Takeshi Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 You're not the only one:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=57310but I haven't seen this on my DELL laptop. Is it just a delay before it shows connected or a permanent thing?
thujone Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 hi, please see attached screenshot. as you can see, the wireless networking panel reports that i am not connected, yet it gives me the option to Disconnect. this does not happen when i first start my computer. it only happens after i lose a connection to a wireless network and then reconnect to it. when i reconnect to it, it doesn't seem to update the status.
Takeshi Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I now see what you mean. I think I've seen this too but can't be sure.If you can actually connect and do your work I'd just ignore it. Otherwise you're going to be bogged down by every little bug that Windows shows up.It's not solving the problem but just learning to live with it.
Zxian Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Have you tried uninstalling your wireless card and then letting Windows reinstall the drivers on reboot?
