hakeem5454 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 i just rebooted my computer and i saved some documents on a floppy so i could access them later. The problem is that when i put the floppy in and click on the 3 1/2 floppy picture in my computer it says: Please insert disk into drive A:. And yes i have tried more than one floppy, it does that for all of them?what seems to be the problem?
ripken204 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 did u try to format the disk? floppy's are extremely gay.
hakeem5454 Posted October 8, 2005 Author Posted October 8, 2005 if i format it, wont i lose my all data on it tho
ripken204 Posted October 8, 2005 Posted October 8, 2005 well like i said floppy's are extremely gayis the data still on the comp?
hakeem5454 Posted October 9, 2005 Author Posted October 9, 2005 no. and the data on the floppy is extremley important
ripken204 Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 well i think ur out of luck unless u want to try it on a bunch of different comps. that why no1 uses floppys anymore
hakeem5454 Posted October 9, 2005 Author Posted October 9, 2005 ok i guess ill try using it on another computer then.
Redcloud Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Did you check your BIOS to see if your floppy is recognized? If not change the setting.
hakeem5454 Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 ok how would i do that?i have a sony vaio pcv-rs100, with award bios
ripken204 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 well he just meant if the bios detected the floppy drive. if the drive works in windows then ur fine.
hakeem5454 Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 k i went into the bios and it said legacy floppy, is that my floppy drive? and i dont know if its working in windows cuz when i try to open a floppy it says tthere isnt one.
ripken204 Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 well the floppy drive works. like i said before, you need to format the disk, this will be the only way to make the disk work. try to format a floppy you dont need. do you still have the files you need or are they only on that 1 floppy?
hakeem5454 Posted October 10, 2005 Author Posted October 10, 2005 i went to my friends house and transfered the files to cd so i have them on my computer and cd. i tried formating the floppy and it says the same thing
rjz Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 It coud be a bad floppy drive. The floppy cable could be in wrong or it could be bad. Check your event logs and also check your bios. Try to boot from it by using a test floppy from bootdisk.com
hakeem5454 Posted October 11, 2005 Author Posted October 11, 2005 IT WORKS NOW!thanks to: rjzthe floppy cable was loose.
