danisher
Hello allI got Vista through eAcademy, but the download is not an ISO or DVD or whatever. My problem is therefore to create a DVD, that can boot the Vista installation. So what I'm missing is the bootimage thing, that can go into the ISO. I tried the cdimage command from:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=10251Version: Official Windows Vista Beta 1. Build unknown.... but with no luck.So can anybody help me?Thanks!Regardsdanisher
gunsmokingman
The real image from ms is a bootable image.Sounds like it is a bad copy.
danisher
HelloThe copy is downloaded from Microsoft, so what do you mean "the real version" is ISO...I have friends who downloaded it also, but they didn't get it as an iso either. They installed XP first, and then upgraded to Vista. I would just prefer to get a clean install... But can anybody post or send me the bootimage from their DVD or so? I would really grateful!!!Thanks!danisher
gunsmokingman
First of all ths is the site i get my Vista from. These are all bootable Iso versions. So if you are getting the real version then it bootable.Plus a little note MS does not recommend upgrading from any version of windows yet. ringfinger
I agree... all version I have gotten so far are in .iso format. And I would run it in VM or a separate partition like gunsmokingman suggested... all the bugs aren't out yet
danisher
Hello againI would properly agree with you if I was downloading from the same location as you, but I am not. I download from:http://www.e-academy.com/In my basket I see:Software Title Qty Item Windows Vista (Longhorn) Professional Edition Beta 1 1 DownloadI download a piece of software, that downloads the actual content of the DVD from my university. It then unpacks it into a folder I decide. The content of the folder is then:BootDocsDriversSourcesSupportautorun.infboot.inireadme.htmreadme.txtsetup.txtSo am I missing something, or should I complain about it not beeing an ISO, and try to get another version?Hope you can help!Thanks!/danisher
ringfinger
It looks to me as if the app you're using to download Vista like you said extracts the .iso for you. Just use an app like MagicIso or something to rebuild it.
gunsmokingman
Try using just internet explorer to download it.When I download from that site it uses a Microsoft File Transfer Manager.
