bitzm2000 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 I don't know much about computers.I have a computer running on windows xp with a 1.35 GHz AMD Duron prossessor , a 120GB harddrive and 608Mb RAM.I've been playing SimCity 3000 and it is very slow. I have it set on the fastest speed and it takes 30-45 seconds for a day to pass.Any advice will be helpful and remember I'm not at all knowledgable about computers.

bitzm2000 Posted September 23, 2005 Author Posted September 23, 2005 How do you find what kind of graphics card you got?
cumminbk Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 Alright do this1). Open My Computer2). Right click your hard drive.3). Select "Properties" at the bottom of the list that pops up.4). A window will open. At the bottom of this window uncheck, "Allow Indexing Service toindex this disk for fast file searching"5). Let the process run for a few minutes. If a window opens saying some files cannot but un-index select the "Ignore All" button and let the procces continue.6). This will speed up your computer alot.7). Once this is all done click the "Tools" tab.8). The second option says defrag now. Click that and let it run. It could take quite a while if it hasn't been done before.Good luck.PS i see you have this topic is posted here and the Game forum. Only post a topiconce in one forum.
Wicket20519 Posted September 23, 2005 Posted September 23, 2005 How do you find what kind of graphics card you got?<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Right-click on your desktop > click Properties > click Settings. It sould say right under the illustration of the monitor what type of graphics card you have.To speed up your computer:Have you defragmented the harddrive lately?Have you run your anti-virus/anti-spyware lately? Is there a cooling problem? And I don't know what the system requirements are for Sim City, but an AMD Duron = Intel Celeron, basically.Actually, the Duron line was discontinued/replaced by the Sempron, right?
