drunkensmithrz Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 me again i am trying to install hl2 from the cd but i keep getting an error. the error occurs when it is trying to locate materials.gfc (i belive that is what it is looking for not 100% sure though) . i can download the game directly from steam but it take about tree and a half hours to do. i dont really know what to do now. i went to the steam support site but i couldn't find any info.
OrcoXP Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 try copying the files from the CD to the a temp folder on your desktop and then run the install from there
atomizer Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 if that doesn't work, look for scratches on the CD. if they're not real deep, polish with a light abrasive, like toothpaste or a car polish (not wax).
