I use a bootable Norton Ghost 2003 CD to perform the restoration of a ghosted Win2000 OS image.

Problem is, the image is from another system. And though it restores fine to the target system, the Win2000 startup fails with Stop Error 7B (Inaccessible_Boot_Device). Apparently the OS contains different disk device information from the source system.

Source: Intel 82801 BA bus master IDE controller

Target: Intel 82371 AB/ED PCI bus master IDE controller

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? Any way around this?

Does the target computer have the same motherboard or something very similar? The NT OS line doesn't take too kindly to a motherboard change it doesn't work the way 9x does.

It doesn't like the HD controller in the other system, the drivers aren't installed for the other controller. You should be able to run a full repair and get it too boot. If you want to make images that can do this install the drivers for each controller you'll encounter and run sysprep. Do a search for univdersal image in the forum for more info.
