Maleko Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 ok, i was trying out a shell pack (i have tried contacting the author, no luck), and it installed a windrive.ico to make the system drive icon look different, now ive removed the pack, and the icon is still set, yet i cant find the icon to delete, system search, nothing, yet if i go into command prompt and type c:\windrive.ico, it wants to open it...:S any ideas how to restore the windrive icon to default?
Scubar Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 the icon is still in the cache and that is why its showing up. if you have Microsofts free TweakUI which you can download from Here then under the repair section on the left you can rebuild the icons.
Ðrзω™ Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\C\DefaultIcon]@="C:\\WINDOWS\\cdrive.ico"i use that reg tweak to change my c drive to the c drive icon of early longhorn builds (xp hard drive icon with windows flag)maybe the pack did the same by using that reg tweak, if so try and delete that reg entry or change the path to icon back to the original drive icon
