Zxian Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 Darn, you had to steal her laptop to get her to move in with you? *Just Kidding!!!!!*Hehe... no... we had mentioned it before, but this just adds the kicker.Back on topicI've had things stolen from me. To say it sucks is an understatement. Insurance might cover some of it but often times it just comes out of your pocket. For most of us, it is the extra money that we have had to work for. The extra hours, the doing without somethings and the time it takes to save up for it. This is above and beyond basic living expenses. And what about the sentimental value or an heirloom? A thief walks in and takes a part of you life, for free. The thief sells it for pennies on the dollar or takes it for his own pleasure to use. What about a thief that steals someone's tools. Steals what someone works with. A laptop or a hammer. The victim is out of work until the tools are replaced. The victim may have to borrow in order to replace. Even then, it will take time to get the new laptop back up to where the original was, if at all. That is all downtime and no compensation.Sorry Zxian. I read your story and go into a slow boil.DL<{POST_SNAPBACK}>No need to apologize. I understand everything that you're saying. My girlfriend was more upset about the documents and pictures that she had on the laptop, as you said.Although... my girlfriend and I were talking about it last night and she said that yes, she was upset that her laptop was gone, but on the other hand, one day, whoever took it will have to live with the fact that they stole things. Nothing more is going to come from being upset about it or feeling sorry about the situation, so all she can do is learn from the experience, move on, and look forward in life. She's such a positive person... I love her...

Zxian Posted September 14, 2005 Author Posted September 14, 2005 lol... if I can trade for what she's gonna get (doubtful) it won't be...
XtremeMaC Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 best thing to do with a laptop is to buy those cablesu know 1 side gets hooked up to the laptop and the other one is to a non-movable item like your table or something...this to be exactthats how i kept my laptop when i was in my dorm..i sort of have a memory of stealing issue. we were in a big hall with 100+ ppl. at a particular time they made an announcement and everyone was invited near the stage for giving out prizes...so everyone left their stuff on the tables (they were making presentations to the guests).so our table had 2 laptops and the next table had 3, 1 was particularly new. so we went to the stage and 5 mins later we got back and that new laptop was missing.!! it had linux in it as my friend tells me...its pretty messed up when u're stuff gets stolen like thati mean, u know if a thief came at night at stole your stuff thats better, but this is so stupid. those ppl really do have courage to do s***!. its like when a teachers turns to the board and starts writing you talk with yourfriend. i mean u could do that in a split second but stealing a laptop in that amount of time i dunno..u need big balls!ow btw this incident happened in USA/pennstate...not that there isn't any thief in Turkey
